I love “old” things, especially vintage sewing supplies.   They remind me of my Grandma’s or my Mom’s sewing basket.  I feel like sewing notions are Barbies for grown ups!

So much cute stuff!

Today a thoughtful friend sent me some things she thought I would enjoy.   And I will!  It was like opening a treasure chest.

Aren’t these pretty?

There were a couple crocheted  pot holders–love those!  I have a stack of different styles, with plans to frame them after I repaint my kitchen (maybe next year?)

Cute!

The first thing I grabbed after opening the envelope was this sweet blue tape measure, it is two layers stitched together, they aren’t made like that anymore.  I  especially love the color!

These make me think of “Anne of Green Gables”

There is a collection of little hats.  I wonder what the original maker intended to do with them?  The red one is bigger, and stuffed I think it is a Pincushion….it will be now!  I plan to add one or two of them, along with a couple of the pieces of lace (shown below) to a crazy quilt that has been in process for years.  There is also a little crocheted circle with fabric pages inside, made to hold needles I believe.

Perfect stitches!

My favorite item is a lovely piece of crocheted lace.  I already know I want to embroider something pretty and incorporate it on to the stitchery.

Great graphics

Also included were a couple thimbles, and cards of snaps and hooks.  The graphics on old notions were so much better than modern day sewing supplies.

Am I using the word cute too much? They just are!

I particularly like the two cards of colored safety pins.  I feel like the original owner did too, so much that she saved them instead of using them.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my treasures as much as I did!

I thought those little pin s were so cute. Doesn’t it make you curious as to what they did with those pins?
